Happy New Year!

I’m having some trouble with posts in my blog.  Some can read current entries.  Other’s can’t.  I’m working on it.

New music is up!  Head over to myspace to listen.  I’ll be rotating songs so check back periodically..

We still have a few things to tweak — and if I had it my way, we’d start the whole project all over again.  I’m a horrible perfectionist - and the CD is far from perfection in my eyes/ears.  I know, I’m also my worst critic.  So I’ll stop here and say thank you to all for your support.  This is just the beginning.

Oh my goodness! I can hardly contain my excitement. I’m in love with my songs again. I’m in love with Hank, the studio owner, and Terry, our engineer.

Saturday was the last day of scheduled recording. Mostly finishing touches.

We even had plenty of time for Paula’s 10-year-old niece to record background vocals for Mama Said - just wait till you hear it! It’s exactly what I imagined.

When she started singing, I started crying. There was no stopping the waterworks, no matter how hard I tried (and believe me, I tried). She was my hero that day.

After that, we began the tedious, but rewarding, process of editing and mixing.

As of last night, five songs are fully mixed and the rest are fully edited, ready for mixing. We have about five hours of mixing and four hours of mastering ahead of us.

What does that mean?

It means we’re rounding the bend to the final outcome.

Yay!

Did I mention my excitement?

It all started when I arrived at the studio on Saturday. Hank played a music sample for me to listen to. It sounded amazing. I thought it was his band.

It took me a moment to realize he was playing MY SONG! Holy crap - how did that happen!

His guitar parts and Terry’s piano sounds brought the song to a whole new level that I never even knew could exist in my music.

He calls it job security. He spent time on his own working on those parts because he really believes in my music. And he’s already said he’s always up for a tour. Good to know!

You’ll have to trust my excitement about the sound and the feel of my music - at least until you hear it for yourself.

I don’t even have a sample to share. Sorry. As soon as the studio bill is paid, I’ll have the product. We’re so close. We could still use pre-orders and donations. If you’re thinking of getting the CD when it’s released, please consider placing your order now. Remember, you’ll also get the first single to download before it even hits the cd duplication house.

Your support has helped pay for one whole day of recording already. It’s a win/win. The more CDs you order today, the sooner you’ll receive the product.

Wouldn’t it be fun to have CDs to wrap for holiday gifts? I’m just sayin’ :)

Until then, thank you for your continued support. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. (my favorite holiday in Los Angeles) Love shout to my friends headed to Joshua Tree for the holiday weekend. I miss you! Love also to writer-friends standing tall for what’s fair. Stay strong friends. You have my support from 3000 miles away.

I’m still in New Hampshire till Christmas. I’m hoping to see a little snow while I’m here. I figure if it’s going to be this cold, it might as well snow!

peace & love,

Trish

Thank you to all who have generously donated and pre-ordered CDs. We are now 1/10 of the way to our low-end budget. Yay!

I’ve been working full-time at a great company with great people. Really makes my time here feel so much more worth while. I’ll almost be sad to leave New Hampshire when the time comes. Luckily I will have plenty of opportunity to visit for extended periods of time (more about that later).

CD Pre-Production News

I’ve spent much time and energy researching recording studios all around New England. I had my heart set on one studio but I’ve recently been referred to another studio by a former college friend who makes his living as a professional musician. I have to say, there’s comfort in having a personal referral. I will be meeting with this studio this weekend.

I’ve made rough recordings of CD-worthy songs so I can listen with a producer’s ear. The idea is to work out harmonies and/or other instruments, and work out kinks like timing and tempo. I have a difficult time tooting my own horn when it comes to my music but I have to admit, listening to these recordings has shown me that these really are great songs. I’m very excited about this project.

I’m struggling with finding Angel Investors. Most investors are looking for projects with a much higher budget. It’s kind of strange to think that businesses are more willing to invest $500,000 than $5,000. But I won’t give up. If you know of someone looking for a profitable investment, consider this project.

Website and Journal

I’ve spent countless hours transferring, creating and cleaning up files. I’m still working on it but the basics seem to be taken care of. By doing it myself, I’ve already shaved a few digits off my budget. Web design is intense - especially without training. All the links should work and my journal is now hosted on my website. If you find a broken link, please let me know. Links are below.

Donations and Pre-Orders

If you would like to make a donation or pre-order the CD but you’re not comfortable with using PayPal, I will gladly accept checks through the mail. Email me for the address. PayPal takes a cut off the top - even on donations. It’s nominal but it adds up. Still, thanks to PayPal, I’ve been able to safely and securely accept credit cards. So whatever works for you works for me too. See links below

Love and Thanks!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this project. It’s over ten years in the making. I have a lot of love and support around me. As excited as I am, I can’t help but get scared once in a while. When I fall into funky despair, it seems not to last very long - thanks to this love.

in peace,

Trish
